Turns out the opposite is true: "Gender-referred adolescents showed significantly higher psychiatric morbidity than controls both before (45.7% vs. 15.0%) and ≥ 2 years after referral (61.7% vs. 14.6%). Those referred after 2010 had greater psychiatric needs than earlier cohorts, both before (47.9% vs. 15.3%) and ≥ 2 years after (61.3% vs. 14.2%) referral. Among adolescents who underwent medical gender reassignment, psychiatric morbidity increased markedly during follow-up — rising from 9.8% to 60.7% in feminising gender reassignment and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising gender reassignment. After adjusting for prior psychiatric treatment, all gender-referred adolescents had similarly elevated risks of psychiatric morbidity, with hazard ratios approximately three times higher than female controls and five times higher than male controls."
To summarize, boys who tried to become girls had a 10% suicidality rate before 'gender affirming care' and a 60% rate after! A 6X increase. One cannot imagine a bigger disaster. Far worse outcome in exchange for sterilizing and disfiguring yourself for life and becoming a lifelong medical patient dependent on dangerous and expensive cross-sex hormones for life!

Some on the left are characterizing this as a return to "conversion therapy." This is yet another reason that it never made sense to lump the Ts in with the LGBs. Conversion therapy IS harmful and useless with the LGBs but being trans is a very different thing. In many, if not most it is not 'iniate' like sexuality. 80-90% of 'trans' youth will outgrow their gender dysphoria if not treated with drugs and surgeries. But if so treated, 80-90% will need the medical treatment for life, in exchange for many medical risks and complications all so they can never actually resemble the gender they are trying to 'transition' to. There are 10s of thousands of detransitioners even after 'gender affirming care' even though some to much of the damage done is irreversible.
