"McHugh cited research showing that the suicide rate among transgender individuals after surgery is 20 times higher than average, hardly a ringing endorsement of 'transition' as treatment. Other studies show that 70%-80% of children who express transgender feelings eventually outgrow them without medical intervention. While one can outgrow fantasies, medical or surgical gender reassignment is permanent, and may leave one with regret and depression." In other words, if you DON'T give gender affirming care to young people, they almost certainly outgrow the idea that they are 'trans.' But once you do give that 'care', they almost certainly will not outgrow being 'trans' and will have a life time of unnecessary medical treatments, sterility and other negative health consequences and in exchange for all of that will have a 20X higher than average suicide rate.

A psychologist once blinded a patient with a caustic substance because she was convinced her true self could not see." Some object or recoil at these Integrity Affirming care procedures but "if it is ethical to surgically remove genitals, change facial structures to look more masculine or feminine (as the case may be), administer strong hormones to alter secondary sex characteristics, and otherwise make a member of one sex appear to be the other, why is it not also appropriate to cut off unwanted arms or snip spinal cords if that brings emotional relief?" Of course all of this is madness and participating doctors should have their medical licenses revoked for violations of the "Do no harm" principle.
