In the humanities, that number was just six out of 76 (7.9 percent)… Today, just one in ten millennial programmers at Sundance is a straight white man…”

Very insightful article that shows "every mass movement ends up as a racket." Many government programs had noble beginnings but have turned into major grift. Federal pensions turned into benefits that have ballooned higher than the private sector. Civil rights (non-discrimination) turned into affirmative action and then DIE quotas and discrimination. The desire to help the truly needy turned into a disgraceful 44 million people on SNAP benefits with an insane amount of fraud. This toxic concept has been doing damage for at least half a century and cannot die soon enough. "Disparate impact rules say any policy or test in which some races or sexes do better than others is illegal discrimination, even if the policy has nothing to do with race or sex."
No disparate impact lawsuits are valid. Companies and governments have just had to live with it. Cost of doing business that is passed on to the consumer. A few examples, "Google settled a racial bias lawsuit for $50 million. Merrill Lynch paid $20 million. Maryland taxpayers will have to pay $3 million to make a racial discrimination suit go away."
Heather Mac Donald says, "It is their greatest weapon against excellence, and it is an abuse of the spirit of our civil rights laws."
"The Maryland State Police wanted to make sure state troopers could read at a very basic level," says Mac Donald. "But because black applicants got lower scores, the test was ruled racist."
"Because women got lower scores on the physical fitness test, the state was also found guilty of sexism. State politicians promised to change their standards and create new tests. Maryland taxpayers still have to pay millions."
"Disparate impact means an institution can be completely colorblind, it can want to have as many different races as possible, but if it has a standard that blacks do poorly on, you got to throw out the standard," says Mac Donald.
"New York taxpayers also paid about $2 billion because lawyers said a test for teachers was racist. Mac Donald says, 'Even though you've spent decades throwing out every question on this exam that has too wide a racial divergence, you still didn't have the same proportion of black applicants passing as white applicants, we're going to throw out the exam. And you, New York taxpayers, are liable for $2 billion!'"
"You already have medical schools that have simply waived the medical college admissions tests for black students because they do so poorly on them. They are bringing blacks into medical schools with qualifications that would be automatically disqualifying if presented by whites or Asians."

'A lot of our subcontractors bid on contracts that were perfect in their industry, but because they weren’t Native American, they wouldn’t win it, so we bid on it for them, and they became our subcontractor,' she said."

Her very recent degree was from an online diploma mill. Marchand knew this would severely damage the reputation and prestige of this once serious journal.

"In the next decade, OPM developed six different tests to attempt to satisfy the decree. But every test that accurately identified the most competent workers also had “the greatest adverse impact” to blacks, the court was told years ago, even though nothing in the tests was, on its face, racist."
The only test that was deemed acceptable (non-racist) was a questionnaire where the applicants rated their own abilities across various criteria. There could be no test of their claims. Every such test was found to have 'disparate impact.'
The Trump administration is looking to put an end to this charade as was done in college admissions.

Literally the same thing happened to a white woman (Liz Magill) who did not even have the plagiarism issue, but when it happens to a black woman, it's 'racism.' Its obvious to everyone that any results or behavior must be accepted from black people or the left will cry 'racism.' I.e. racism is now defined as holding black people to the same standards as every other group of people.

Some of her predecessors, like Lawrence Bacow, Drew Gilpin Faust and Lawrence Summers, have had vastly more voluminous academic records. The discrepancy gives the appearance that Dr. Gay was not chosen because of her academic or scholarly qualifications, which Harvard is thought to prize, but rather because of her race... If the issue were a couple of hastily quoted phrases in one article, it would be one thing. But investigations have shown that this problem runs through about half of Dr. Gay’s articles, as well as her dissertation. We must ask how a university president can expect to hold her head high, carry authority and inspire respect as a leader on a campus where students suffer grave consequences for doing even a fraction of what Dr. Gay has done."

She did the same thing Liz Magill of Penn did (refused to say calls for genocide against Jews is harassment) plus multiple instances of plagiarism. Magill who is white loses her job but Gay keeps hers because black people are held to a lower standard. Compare her also to former Harvard President Larry Summers. Summers, a white economist with no plagiarism lost his job for suggesting there might be brain differences between men and women. Summers published six books and well over 100 academic articles. Gay published only 11 in a far less rigorous field, some of which were plagiarized. Black scholar Carol Swain was brutally honest: “What is bothering me is not just that there’s passages she didn’t put in quotation marks. When I look at her work, I feel like her whole research agenda, her whole career, was based on my work. She became president of Harvard and got recognition as being its first black president. I don’t believe her record warranted tenure, and I believe that I had to meet a much higher standard than she did. … It’s clear to me that standards were lowered in the mid-1990s, and the elites came together and decided that they were going to defend affirmative action. It’s clear to me that she was a beneficiary of that. I blame her committee, and I blame white progressives equally.” "A white male would probably already be gone," Swain noted.
